The burial arrangements for veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have been announced following his death at the age of 66.
Newsonspot reports that the burial plans were disclosed by fellow veteran actor Jide Kosoko in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Hassan reportedly passed away at about 3:00 p.m. on Sunday after battling cancer.
According to the announcement, the actor’s remains would be taken to his hometown, Ilaro, in Ogun State, where the burial rites would commence.
The lying-in-state ceremony is scheduled for Monday, August 24, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pavillon in Ilaro.
Kosoko, while announcing the death, expressed deep sadness over the passing of the veteran actor and prayed for strength for his family, friends, colleagues and other loved ones.

He also prayed that Almighty Allah grant Hassan eternal rest.
He said: “With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of ALHAJI TAIWO HASSAN, popularly known as OGOGO, who passed away at 3:00 p.m. today Sunday, 23rd August 2026. At 66 years.
“His remains will be taken to his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State today where the lying-in-state ceremony will take place tomorrow.
“Date: Monday, 24th August 2026
“Time: 11:00 a.m.
“Venue: Pavillon, Ilaro, Ogun State.
“We pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and gives his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear this great loss.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace. Ameen.”
Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, was a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry whose career and contributions to Nollywood earned him recognition among fans and colleagues.
His death has sparked mourning across the Nigerian entertainment industry, with tributes expected from actors, filmmakers and fans.
