A broadcast journalist with Ogun State Television (OGTV), Bukola Agbakaizu, has passed away at the age of 52.
Newsonspot gathered that she slumped on Monday at the station’s premises while preparing for her afternoon shift. She was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Center in Idi-Aba, where doctors confirmed her death.
Agbakaizu was a well-known figure in the journalism community, actively involved in the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council. She also served as an Ex-Officio member and was highly respected among her peers.
Sources said she had been managing a health condition related to high blood pressure and was consistent with her medication.
Her sudden death has left journalists in Ogun State in deep sorrow. Members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) described her passing as unexpected and painful, remembering her as a caring and dedicated professional who always supported others.
Colleagues praised her passion for journalism and her efforts to help others grow in the field. Beyond her work on television, she was admired for her kindness and the way she treated people.
Bukola Agbakaizu is survived by her two children and her extended family.
