At least 21 pupils have been confirmed dead after a school bus carrying students of King David Junior School crashed in eastern Uganda on Thursday evening.
Newsonspot gathered that the tragic accident occurred in Chekwatit Community, Kapchorwa District, when the bus reportedly lost control, slammed into a large rock, and crashed.
According to the Ugandan Police, the pupils were returning from an excursion to the popular Sipi Falls tourist site when the fatal accident happened.
Authorities said about 60 other pupils sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment.
Emergency responders and security officials were deployed to the scene as investigations continue to determine the cause of the crash.
