The family of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has confirmed the abduction of his younger sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, by suspected gunmen in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Newsonspot reports that according to a statement released by Adelabu’s media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, the incident occurred on the morning of June 3, 2026. Mrs. John-Paul, aged 43, was reportedly on her way to drop her children at school when armed men intercepted their vehicle and forcefully took them away.
The abduction has sparked concerns over security in the state, as the victims were reportedly targeted during a routine school run. Mrs. John-Paul previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before voluntarily retiring last year. She had relocated to Ibadan with her children and was preparing to join her husband in the United States.

Following the incident, the family immediately alerted security and law enforcement agencies, which have since launched investigations and rescue efforts aimed at securing the victims’ safe return and apprehending those responsible.
While expressing deep concern over the development, the Adelabu family appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could compromise ongoing operations. They also called on Nigerians to support the rescue efforts through prayers and by providing any useful information to the appropriate security authorities.
