The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new visa-on-arrival policy for nationals of six countries, with Kenya and South Africa emerging as the only African nations included in the scheme.
Newsonspot gathered that the new policy, announced by the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), is aimed at strengthening the country’s position as a global destination for tourism, residency and international travel.
According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, eligible holders of ordinary Kenyan and South African passports, along with their accompanying family members, can obtain a visa on arrival, provided they meet specific eligibility requirements.
To qualify, applicants must possess a valid residence permit issued by the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, South Korea or any member state of the European Union. The same residency condition applies to all accompanying family members.
Eligible travellers may be granted either a 14-day or a 60-day visa on arrival, depending on the category of visa approved.
The ICP said the revised policy is part of broader efforts to expand access to UAE visa services, align them with international best practices and strengthen cooperation with partner countries.
The authority added that the initiative is expected to enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness in residency, tourism and international mobility while making travel to the country more convenient for qualified visitors.
