The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Oyewole Mayowa Solomon, has reportedly passed away after collapsing during a party reconciliation meeting in Iyara, the council headquarters.
Newsonspot gathered that according to reports, Solomon slumped on Friday while attending the meeting organised by a former Ijumu Local Government Chairman, Funsho Olumoko, as part of efforts to promote unity among APC stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His sudden collapse reportedly caused confusion among participants, who made efforts to revive him before rushing him to a hospital in Kabba. However, he was said to have died shortly after arriving at the medical facility.

The reconciliation meeting was aimed at resolving internal disagreements within the party and strengthening cooperation among APC members in Ijumu ahead of the 2027 polls.
The development comes after previous APC stakeholders’ meetings in the area, where members endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo for another term while calling for peace and unity within the party.
