An unidentified young man was caught hiding inside the ceiling of an FCMB Bank branch on the morning of Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
Newsonspot reports that according to eyewitnesses, the suspect reportedly gained entry through one of the bank’s customer toilets and concealed himself overnight with the intention of hacking into the bank’s system.
His goal, allegedly, was to wipe off customers’ deposits running into billions of Naira. However, his plan failed.
In a viral video circulating on social media and monitored by our correspondent, the man was seen descending from the ceiling with the aid of a ladder. He was quickly apprehended and beaten by an angry mob before security operatives intervened and took him away for further investigation.
The bank is yet to release an official statement on the incident.

“A customer entered our FCMB bank in Secretariat yesterday, went straight to the toilet and locked himself there, then climbed inside the ceiling.
When he noticed that all the staffs had gone, he came down and tried to hack all the systems.
He also locked himself inside. This morning when my colleagues arrived the office, they noticed the door was locked from inside.
They had to break the door and go in, that’s when they noticed that someone was on top of the ceiling. Immediately they turned on their system, it started showing *“restarting, click ok to accept”*”
