Social media activist and commentator VeryDarkMan has threatened legal action against telecommunications giant MTN over the alleged unauthorised use of his private phone number in an advert promoting the Dangote Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO).
Newsonspot reports that VeryDarkMan, in a message directed at MTN, said his lawyers would write to the company to demand an explanation on how his private phone number was allegedly obtained and used for the Dangote IPO advertisement without his consent.
According to him, the number is linked to his National Identification Number (NIN), making the alleged use a matter he considers particularly serious.
“My lawyers will be sending a letter to your office. I will want a well-detailed explanation as to why my private number was used for Dangote IPO advert without my consent,” he stated.
The activist warned that he could pursue legal action against MTN if the company’s response failed to provide a satisfactory explanation.
VeryDarkMan concluded his message by warning MTN to prepare for what he described as an impending legal confrontation over the alleged use of his private number in the advertisement.
