Meta has announced a major update to WhatsApp group chats, introducing a range of new features designed to make conversations more organised, improve collaboration and simplify communication for millions of users worldwide.
Newsonspot gathered that the latest update includes smarter polls, the new @all mention feature, enhanced event reminders and an easier way to create new group chats from existing ones, as WhatsApp continues to strengthen its messaging platform.
According to Meta, group chats remain one of WhatsApp’s most widely used features, helping families, friends, workplaces, schools and communities stay connected and coordinate activities more efficiently.
One of the standout additions is an upgraded polling system that gives users greater control when creating polls. Group members can now set expiry dates for polls so voting closes automatically, choose to hide voters’ identities for private voting, and edit poll questions within 15 minutes to correct mistakes or provide clearer wording.
Meta said these improvements are intended to help groups make quicker decisions on issues such as meeting times, event locations and other shared activities.
WhatsApp has also introduced the @all mention feature, allowing users to notify every member of a group with a single message instead of tagging participants individually. The feature is particularly useful for urgent announcements, important deadlines, school or office closures and last-minute changes to plans.
To further improve planning within group chats, WhatsApp now offers customisable event reminders. Organisers can set advance notifications for meetings, parties, calls and other events, helping participants stay informed and reducing the chances of important details being buried in busy conversations.
Meta said the new reminder feature was developed in response to user feedback requesting stronger planning tools within WhatsApp, eliminating the need to depend on separate calendar applications.
The update also introduces text stickers, enabling users to convert words or short phrases into colourful sticker-style graphics directly from the sticker search bar. These stickers can be saved and reused, adding a more creative and expressive way to communicate.
The latest enhancements build on a series of improvements introduced over the past year, including larger file-sharing limits, better multi-device support and deeper integration across Meta’s ecosystem.
While each feature may appear small on its own, together they are expected to make managing active group chats easier, more organised and more efficient. Meta said the new tools will be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks as users update to the latest version of WhatsApp.
