Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly invaded a Primary and Junior Secondary School in Mussa village, located in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, abducting an unspecified number of students.
Newsonspot gathered that according to reports, the attack occurred in the early hours of Friday, May 15, shortly after military personnel reportedly left the community. Residents disclosed that the heavily armed assailants stormed the village on motorcycles before forcing their way into the school premises.
A local resident, who spoke on the incident, claimed that several children were taken away by the attackers during the raid.
“Yes, the attack happened early hours of today (Friday), and it was discovered that many children were abducted,” the resident stated.
The Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Askira, confirmed that the attack took place but noted that details surrounding the incident were still unclear.

He explained that while many students reportedly escaped into nearby bushes during the invasion, authorities were yet to ascertain the exact number of those abducted.
“Details of the attack are sketchy, but the information at my disposal has it that many of the students fled into the bush. I do not have details of those abducted. This signifies that the attackers were spying on the movement of troops before they struck,” he said.
The incident has heightened concerns over the security situation in communities across Borno State, especially in vulnerable rural areas frequently targeted by insurgents.
