Tragedy struck on Saturday in Abuja after a three-storey building under construction collapsed at Durumi Area 3, near Gudu Market, leaving at least five persons dead.
Newsonspot reports that rescue officials recovered five bodies from the rubble, while one victim was pulled out alive after spending about nine hours trapped beneath the debris.
According to the spokesman of the FCT Minister, Mr. Lere Olayinka, a total of 11 persons were rescued alive from the collapsed structure and were receiving medical treatment as of the time of filing this report.
The evacuation and rescue operations were supervised by the FCTA Mandate Secretary on Health, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe.
Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has directed that all victims of the building collapse receive free medical treatment.
