A heavy downpour on Tuesday caused severe traffic gridlock along the Nyanya-Keffi Expressway in Abuja after parts of the Kugbo Bus Terminal sustained damage.
Newsonspot reports that the affected terminal, recently built under the supervision of Nyesom Wike, suffered structural impact as sections of its roof were damaged by the rainfall. Debris from the site spilled onto the expressway, obstructing traffic and leaving commuters stranded for hours.
The incident led to heavy congestion along the busy route connecting the Federal Capital Territory to Nasarawa State, disrupting movement for motorists and residents.
Eyewitnesses reported that some vehicles were affected by falling debris, while road users and nearby residents made efforts to clear the obstruction in a bid to restore traffic flow.
The development comes just hours after Wike ordered the arrest of the owner of a multi-storey hotel that collapsed in Jikwoyi, Abuja, and directed that the land be taken over for public use.
The latest incident has raised fresh concerns about infrastructure resilience in the nation’s capital, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.
