The family of veteran Nollywood actress, Peju Ogunmola, has clarified the true circumstances surrounding the death of her only child, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle.
Newsonspot reports that the Nigerian film industry was thrown into mourning a few days ago when news of Ayomikun’s passing surfaced on social media. Speculations quickly spread, with some claiming he had died in the UK following a bathroom accident.

However, in an official statement signed by the family’s spokesperson, Yemi Amodu, the Ogunmola family refuted these reports, confirming that Ayomikun passed away in Ibadan after a brief illness.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle (son of Sunday & Peju Ogunmola Omobolanle), a jewel, a precious child, and a rising star whose light shone brightly and touched many lives. His departure is a profound loss to our family and to all who knew and loved him,” the statement read.
The family stressed that contrary to circulating rumours, Ayomikun’s death was not caused by a bathroom accident. He received top-quality medical care during his illness but sadly passed away peacefully in a hospital in Ibadan. He has since been laid to rest at Eternal Rest Home.

They also urged the public to disregard false reports and respect their privacy during this period of mourning.
“These misleading stories not only dishonour his memory but also bring unnecessary pain to his loved ones. At this time of grief, we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support we have received from family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers. May the Almighty grant Sola eternal rest and grant us all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the family concluded.
