The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, is set to host a large wedding ceremony in Abuja as nine of his children will be married on the same day.
Newsonspot reports that the former Governor of Zamfara State, who has four wives – Aisha, Balkisu, Fatima and Dadiya – is preparing for the multiple wedding fatiha scheduled for February 6, 2026. The event will take place at the Central Mosque in Abuja.
Information about the ceremony emerged through a general invitation circulated by Dan Jafaru Aleengoo Turakee, announcing that several of the minister’s sons and daughters will be joined in marriage on the same day.
Separate invitation cards have also revealed some of the couples involved. Former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, is to marry Nana Bello Matawalle. Ibrahim Sahabi Liman will wed Farida Bello Matawalle, while Yazid Shehu Dan Fulani is set to marry Safiya Bello Matawalle. Umar Ibrahim Danmaliki is also scheduled to marry Aisha Bello Matawalle.
The scale of the ceremony has generated widespread public interest, with Nigerians discussing the development across social and political spaces. The event is expected to attract top political leaders, traditional rulers and other dignitaries from across the country, highlighting Matawalle’s strong influence in northern Nigeria’s political and social circles.
