The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
Newsonspot reports that Friday, April 3, will be observed as Good Friday, while Monday, April 6, has been designated as Easter Monday.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Wednesday.
In his message, the minister congratulated Christians in Nigeria and across the diaspora on the occasion of Easter. He encouraged citizens to reflect on the core values of the season, including selflessness, forgiveness, love, and forbearance, as demonstrated in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
He further emphasized the need for unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, noting that Easter serves as a reminder of the importance of tolerance and community in building a stronger nation.
According to him, Nigerians should remain committed to these shared values to promote national progress and harmony.
The minister also reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to implementing policies that will drive national development, economic growth, and shared prosperity for all citizens.
He concluded by wishing Christians a peaceful, joyful, and fulfilling Easter celebration.
