The Federal Government has confirmed that all bonuses owed to Super Eagles players for the group stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations have been fully released and are expected to reach the players’ domiciliary accounts shortly.
Newsonspot reports that the confirmation was given on Thursday by the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, following reports that some players were unhappy over alleged unpaid bonuses ahead of Nigeria’s quarter-final clash against Algeria in Marrakesh.

In a statement shared on her official X account, Uzoka-Anite said the issue had been resolved through the combined efforts of the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). She explained that new measures were introduced to ensure faster, more reliable payments in line with international best practices.
According to the minister, all group-stage entitlements have been processed and cleared through the required regulatory channels. She added that a fast-track system was also deployed to convert the payments into foreign currency, reflecting the players’ preference to receive their bonuses in dollars.
Uzoka-Anite disclosed that the final stage of the transfer process is currently ongoing, with payments already being credited to the players’ domiciliary accounts. She assured that the funds should reflect between Thursday and Friday.

She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare and morale of the Super Eagles, stressing that steps are being taken to ensure off-field issues do not distract the team as they continue their AFCON 2025 campaign.
The announcement is expected to ease tensions and allow the players to focus fully on their preparations for the knockout stages of the tournament.
