Arsenal have completed the signing of teenage midfielder Axel Donczew from Cardiff City, with the 16-year-old joining the club’s first-year scholarship intake.
Newsonspot reports that the Welsh youth international will continue his development at Arsenal’s Hale End academy after spending his entire youth career with Cardiff.
Donczew has also agreed to a pre-contract arrangement that will see him sign a professional contract with Arsenal when he turns 17.
Despite his young age, the midfielder has already made two senior appearances for Cardiff.
He made history last season when he became the club’s youngest-ever player after featuring against Newport County in the EFL Trophy at 15 years and 234 days.
Donczew subsequently made his second senior appearance against AFC Wimbledon in December.
At international level, the teenager has represented Wales at Under-15 and Under-16 levels.
Although he currently represents Wales at youth level, Donczew is also eligible to play for Poland.
The youngster will now continue his development within Arsenal’s academy setup as the club looks to nurture another promising young talent at Hale End.
