President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Super Eagles for winning the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Newsonspot reports that the President praised the national team for overcoming the disappointment of their semi-final defeat to host nation Morocco and finishing the tournament on a strong note.
Nigeria defeated Egypt, a seven-time AFCON champion, in a penalty shootout after regular time ended goalless. The Super Eagles dominated much of the match before sealing the win from the spot.

In a statement, President Tinubu said the team’s performance showed the determination, resilience, and fighting spirit that Nigerians are known for.
“Despite their impressive run in the tournament, the Eagles lost the semi-final match to Morocco on penalties last Wednesday, which dashed our hopes of lifting the trophy,” the President said.
“However, our players were not discouraged. They showed the true Nigerian spirit, and their hard work has now paid off.”
