The Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria in Nasarawa State, Bishop Joseph Masin, is reported to have been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.
Confirming the incident in an exclusive interview with The Punch in Lafia, the immediate past Secretary of the association Elder Yohanna Samari, said unidentified gunmen invaded the residence of the CAN Chairman at Bukan Sidi in Lafia, Nasarawa State, and took him away to an unknown destination between 11 pm on Wednesday and twelve midnight.
Also confirming this to newsmen, Peace Masin, son of the clergyman, said the abudctors stormed their home at about 11pm on Tuesday, May 27
“They beat the house help and ordered her to call those who were inside. One of the ladies in the house opened the door and they gained access to the house where they took Bishop Masin away. They were accompanied by seven armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.” Masin said
The commissioner of police, Nasarawa State command, Mr. Bola Longe, who confirmed the incident, stated that the abductors of the CAN Chairman took him away on a motorcycle.
The police, however, added that they are on the trail of the kidnappers to ensure the immediate release of the CAN Chairman unhurt.
