A violent attack at the car park of Filmhouse Cinemas IMAX in the Lekki area of Lagos State has left two people feared dead.
Newsonspot gathered that the incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Saturday when a man armed with a cutlass allegedly attacked a security personnel and another individual at the cinema premises.
Filmhouse Group confirmed that a security incident occurred at one of its locations but did not disclose the number of casualties.
According to eyewitness accounts, the two victims reportedly confronted the attacker and prevented him from gaining access to the cinema facility.
Sports journalist Buchi Laba, in a post on X, claimed that one of the victims suffered a stab wound to the chest while the other sustained an injury to the back.

Laba further alleged that one of the victims died while being transported to a hospital.
However, the reported deaths had not been officially confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command at the time of filing this report.
In a statement, Filmhouse Group expressed sadness over the incident, describing it as a security incident that occurred in the car park outside the cinema’s regular operations.
The company said it was working with the relevant authorities, who were leading investigations into the incident.
Filmhouse also announced increased security measures across its locations, stressing that the safety and wellbeing of its staff and guests remained its highest priority.
The company commended the two individuals who confronted the attacker, saying their bravery helped contain the situation and restore safety.

The identities and conditions of the victims have not been officially disclosed, while details about the attacker, including his identity and alleged motive, remain unclear.
The incident has also raised concerns about security around entertainment and leisure facilities in Lagos, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours.
