Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has approved scholarships for more than 760 beneficiaries under the 2025/2026 Local Scholarship Scheme, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and strengthening human capital development across the state.
Newsonspot reports that the Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board, Chukwuemeka Mbah, announced the development on Monday in Enugu.
He disclosed that the beneficiaries were selected from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state and span various academic disciplines. They include over 500 undergraduate students, 100 postgraduate students, and 160 public sector teachers.
According to him, successful applicants who passed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) are already being contacted through text messages and email on a Local Government-by-Local Government basis for verification and documentation.
Chukwuemeka Mbah said the scholarship programme demonstrates Governor Peter Mbah’s strong commitment to investing in education, empowering young people, and equipping the workforce with the knowledge and skills required to drive Enugu State’s development agenda.
He urged all successful applicants to respond promptly to the notifications sent to them to ensure a smooth verification process.
He further explained that the scholarship scheme is one of the flagship education initiatives of the Mbah administration, designed to remove financial barriers to learning and promote academic excellence across the state.
He also revealed that more beneficiaries would be accommodated in the next phase of the programme, encouraging eligible residents of Enugu State to continue applying.
“This programme is open to the people of Enugu State, and I encourage everyone to take advantage of the opportunity. No one should be denied quality education because of financial challenges. Governor Peter Mbah has made it easier for our people to access free, quality education,” he said.
