The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has praised the courage, resilience, and patriotism of two outstanding Nigerians, Ms. Chinyenwa Judith Amadi and Mr. Odera Okwvosa, for projecting a positive image of Nigeria on the global stage.
Newsonspot reports that Dabiri-Erewa gave the commendation while receiving the duo at the NiDCOM Lagos office, describing their achievements as inspiring examples of national pride and selfless service. This was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols of the Commission, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, mnipr.
Ms. Amadi, a Nigerian female biker, recently completed a historic power bike journey from Lagos to France and back to Nigeria. The ride, which began on October 8, 2025, was aimed at raising ₦100 million to support cancer patients across the country who cannot afford chemotherapy.
Despite suffering a finger injury in an accident in Burkina Faso that required stitches, Amadi remained determined and successfully completed the journey. She described the trip as physically and emotionally demanding, citing discrimination at some West African borders, poor road conditions, extreme cold weather, and long-distance fatigue as major challenges.
According to her, the motivation behind the journey was her passion to support cancer patients and to challenge societal expectations placed on women, especially those from conservative backgrounds. Originally from Owerri, Imo State, Amadi is also a yoga and fitness instructor and encouraged young people to pursue their dreams boldly without procrastination.
In the same vein, Dabiri-Erewa also commended Mr. Odera Okwvosa, a UK-based Nigerian professional boxer and fitness entrepreneur alongside his brother, Mr Henry Okwvosa for consistently promoting Nigeria through his sports career and public engagements abroad. She praised his mentorship of young Nigerians and his positive use of social media to showcase the country’s values.
Odera, who recently visited Nigeria during the “Detty December” celebrations, said Nigeria’s rich culture and the warmth of its people are the main reasons he keeps returning home. He also expressed interest in participating more actively in future diaspora programmes organised by NiDCOM.
Odera Okwvosa is a fitness entrepreneur, media influencer, author, and professional sportsman who has won several heavyweight titles, including the British University Championship, two London titles, the East Midlands title, and the UK National title.
Hon. Dabiri-Erewa reaffirmed NiDCOM’s commitment to supporting Nigerians in the diaspora who contribute positively to national development and assured both Amadi and Odera of the Commission’s readiness to partner with them in their professional pursuits.
