Renowned Nigerian musician and live-band leader, Akinloye Tofowomo, popularly known as Akiin Shuga, has passed away.
Newsonspot reports that the celebrated performer and founder of Shuga Band died on October 30th, 2025, in New Brunswick, Canada, at the age of 50.
Akiin Shuga, fondly regarded as Nigeria’s Live-Band Grandmaster, transformed the event entertainment scene and mentored a generation of musicians through his artistry and dedication.
Born in Ondo State, he overcame polio at age five, rising to national prominence as one of the country’s most consistent and professional bandleaders.
