Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records (GWR) for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice.
Newsonspot reports that the historic feat, achieved in partnership with Gino on Victoria Island, Lagos, saw Baci prepare a staggering 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) of Nigerian-style jollof rice – setting a brand-new global record.
GWR confirmed the achievement in a post on its official X handle on Monday, announcing:
“New record: Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice, 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

This latest milestone adds to Baci’s growing list of achievements. She first captured worldwide attention in May 2023 when she cooked non-stop for 93 hours and 11 minutes, breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

The Lagos event attracted celebrities including Funke Akindele, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, Spiro, Kaffy, and Pastor Idowu, as well as Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Ogun State Governor, who all came out to support the chef’s latest record-breaking attempt.
