Edet Okon Asim, the special adviser on biodiversity to Cross River state governor, Ben Ayade, has reportedly slumped and died inside his car.
According to information gathered from sources within the deceased family and colleagues, Asim died in his car around Eta Agbo neighbourhood in Calabar on Tuesday night, July 21, Daily Trust reports.
Family sources said he was asthmatic but the cause of his death could not be immediately ascertained.
The former state commissioner for information was accused of raping a maid back in 2019 and the case is still ongoing in court.
Though the news publication went on to note that Asim’s body has been deposited in a morgue, however, Newsonspot blog could not independently verify the claim.
Asim was also former chairman of Calabar Municipal Council.
