Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, husband of Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has died at the age of 62.
Newsonspot reports that the Adeosun family confirmed his passing in a statement released on Thursday, revealing that he died in Lagos on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The announcement, titled “Announcement of the Passing of Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun,” was signed by Rev. C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family.
Describing the late Anthony Adeosun as a respected businessman and devoted Christian, the family said he lived a life marked by integrity, generosity, steadfast faith, and selfless service to God and humanity.
“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.
According to the family, Anthony Adeosun remained deeply committed to his family, Christian faith, and community throughout his lifetime, touching many lives through his humility, kindness, and unwavering dedication to serving others.
The family also expressed appreciation for the prayers, condolences, and support received from friends, associates, and well-wishers during this difficult period. Funeral and Christian burial arrangements, they added, will be announced at a later date.
Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, Kemi Adeosun, their children, and other relatives, including his brother, Adewale Adeosun.
The family concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of his soul while thanking everyone for their continued support and sympathy.
