Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has officially accepted her appointment as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy to the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo.
Newsonspot reports that in a statement released on Friday, Johnson-Okojie expressed deep gratitude to the governor for the trust and confidence placed in her. She described the appointment as more than a title, saying it is a call to connect with the people, listen to their concerns, and advocate for their interests.
The actress-turned-public official stated that she fully supports Governor Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda, which focuses on responsive governance and sustainable development across Edo State. She pledged to serve with humility, dedication, and a strong commitment to amplifying the voices of Edo residents and strengthening civic participation.
Addressing the people of Edo State, Johnson-Okojie said her role is centered on ensuring that citizens’ voices, stories, and participation in governance are heard and valued. She added that the goal is to deepen civic engagement, build trust, and promote a people-centered administration.
The appointment is seen as part of the state government’s efforts to improve communication and engagement between the government and the public. Johnson-Okojie concluded by thanking her supporters, noting that:
