Nigeria’s Super Eagles have moved up to 26th position in the latest FIFA World Ranking released on Monday, recording an impressive 12-place jump.
Newsonspot reports that the national team climbed from 38th place following a strong performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Morocco, where they finished third overall.
With the new ranking, Nigeria is now the third-best team in Africa, behind AFCON finalists Senegal, who are ranked 12th in the world, and Morocco, ranked 8th globally.

Algeria and Egypt, both of whom were knocked out by Nigeria during the tournament, now sit in fourth and fifth positions respectively on the African rankings.
The Super Eagles won six of their seven matches at the tournament, losing only to host nation Morocco on penalties in the semi-finals. They later secured third place with a 4-2 victory over Egypt in the playoff match.

At the top of the global rankings, Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Croatia currently make up the world’s top 10 teams.
