Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has safely returned to Abuja after being evacuated from Guinea-Bissau following a sudden military coup in the country.
Newsonspot reports that Jonathan, who arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Thursday evening, had been in Guinea-Bissau as the head of the West African Elders Forum Election Observation Mission. He was monitoring the presidential and legislative elections held last Sunday when the military announced that it had taken over power.
The development raised concerns among Nigerians over his safety. However, he was successfully airlifted out of the country and transported back to Abuja without incident.
