Nigerian singer Tems delivered a performance of her hit song “Me & U” during the grand opening ceremony of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, joining a lineup of globally acclaimed artists at the historic event.
Newsonspot reports the ceremony celebrated the official unveiling of the center founded by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. The event attracted several prominent political figures, including Joe Biden, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, alongside international dignitaries such as Angela Merkel and Justin Trudeau.
Notably absent from the gathering was Donald Trump, making him the only living U.S. president not reported among the attendees at the dedication ceremony.
Tems shared the stage with several international stars, including Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Marc Anthony, and members of the Irish band U2. Her appearance further highlighted the growing global influence of Nigerian music on major international stages.
The Obama Presidential Center officially opened on June 18 and is expected to serve as a hub for civic engagement, education, culture and community development on Chicago’s South Side.
