The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of popular Nollywood actor, filmmaker, and comedian, Okiki Afolayan Oshin, widely known as Janmole.
Newsonspot gathered that according to reports, the veteran actor lost his life in a fatal road accident along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway on Monday, June 1, 2026. His sudden passing has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans, colleagues, and stakeholders within the Nigerian film industry.
News of the unfortunate incident first surfaced on social media, where fans and associates paid tribute to the late entertainer, remembering his contributions to Nollywood and his unique comedic talent.
Janmole’s death is particularly heartbreaking given that he had previously survived a similar road accident in September 2022. At the time, his vehicle reportedly caught fire, but he escaped and later recounted the traumatic experience publicly.
The actor’s passing was officially confirmed on Tuesday by veteran filmmaker and National President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Mr. Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin.
In a heartfelt tribute shared on Instagram, Mr. Latin expressed sorrow over the loss and prayed for strength and comfort for the deceased’s family, friends, and colleagues.
He described Janmole as a valued member of the entertainment community whose contributions and presence would be greatly missed.
The late actor was widely respected for his dedication to the Nigerian movie industry and for bringing laughter and inspiration to audiences through his performances.
