The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has confirmed Pastor Peter Akpe as the new Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State following his nomination by Governor Douye Diri.
Newsonspot reports that Akpe, who previously served as Chief of Staff to the governor, was screened and approved by lawmakers at the Assembly complex in Yenagoa after undergoing the required legislative procedures. His confirmation marks a continuation of the current administration’s leadership structure, as he has been a key member of Governor Diri’s executive team.
During his tenure as Chief of Staff, Akpe played a major role in coordinating government activities and managing the governor’s office. Lawmakers expressed confidence in his capacity to support the state government’s development agenda, noting that his nomination was in line with constitutional provisions.
The screening reportedly focused on his professional experience, public service record, and vision for the office of deputy governor, with legislators affirming their support for his appointment.
