The Kano State Police Command, acting on the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has recorded major successes in its ongoing fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse across the state.
Newsonspot reports that the Command said the achievements were made possible through sustained intelligence-led visibility patrols and targeted operations aimed at disrupting criminal networks and reducing drug-related activities.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, police officers arrested four suspects and recovered dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa in separate operations.
According to the statement, on January 25, 2026, officers attached to the Fagge Police Division intercepted a tricycle during an intelligence-led surveillance patrol around Triumph Roundabout.
Following a search of the tricycle, officers recovered 157 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa from two sacks. Two suspects identified as Amadu Ado and Salisu Lurwanu, both from Kulliya Village, Bunkure LGA, Kano, were arrested in connection with the seizure.
In another operation carried out on January 24, 2026, the Command’s Rapid Response Team (RRT), under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, raided several black spots across the Kano Metropolitan Area.
The raid led to the arrest of Usman Hamisu and Auwal Abdullahi, who were found in possession of items suspected to be illicit substances, including 40 pieces of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, 20 pieces of rubber solutions, half a roll of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, and 10 small bottles of a substance described as “Suck and Die.”
Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised their professionalism and commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
