The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s National Secretary, following weeks of internal deliberations and leadership consultations.
Newsonspot reports that the announcement was made on Wednesday by Ambassador Iliya Damagum, the party’s Acting National Chairman, during a press briefing attended by key PDP leaders and stakeholders.
A Tough but Unifying Decision
Damagum revealed that the decision to reinstate Anyanwu into the National Working Committee (NWC) was not without challenges but ultimately gained support from the party’s organs and a majority of its members.
He was flanked at the briefing by top party figures, including Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, signaling a strong consensus behind the move.
“It was a critical decision,” Damagum said, acknowledging the complexities involved.
NEC Meeting Called Off, Expanded Caucus Planned

“Like INEC said, they don’t have our notice. So what we will have on June 30th is an extended Caucus,” he explained.

With his reinstatement now official, Senator Samuel Anyanwu is expected to resume his duties as PDP National Secretary, a position he previously vacated under contested circumstances.
