Over 4,500 residents in the Abere and Modakeke communities of Ile-Ife, Osun State, have benefited from a two-day food distribution program organized by Fidelity Bank Plc.
The initiative, part of the Fidelity Food Bank, was held in partnership with the Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment and the Esther Adeleke Foundation.
The program provided essential food items to residents and included the donation of 500 Point of Sale (POS) machines, aimed at helping families and small businesses generate income.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director and CEO of Fidelity Bank, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, represented by Mrs. Morenike Olabisi, Regional Bank Head, Southwest II, said the effort reflects the bank’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its goal to support national development.
“This is the third distribution exercise in Osun State this year. Our aim is to support the fight against hunger in Nigeria and contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger,” Olabisi said.
She emphasized that since its launch in April 2023, the Fidelity Food Bank initiative has reached communities across all six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
“The 500 POS machines donated will serve as tools for income generation, empowering many families and small business owners,” she added.
