The Sultanate Council in Sokoto has declared Friday, February 28, 2025, as the start date for the sighting of the new Moon of Ramadan 1446AH.
Newsonspot reports that this was announced in a statement signed by Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, the Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs for the Sultanate Council.
The statement urged Muslims to look out for the new Moon on Friday and report any sightings to their nearest District or Village Head. These reports would then be communicated to the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, for an official announcement.
