Canada has excluded Nigeria from its visa-free travel list as two African nations have been added.
The Canadian government has waived visa requirements for visitors from thirteen countries in Asia, Africa, Central America, and South America.
On Tuesday, Sean Fraser, the Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, disclosed this information in a statement.
Visa-free travel is extended to: Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Kitts-Nevis, Panama, Argentina, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Morocco, Seychelles, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Thailand, and the Philippines, according to the Canadian government.
While Morocco and Seychelles were added to the list, Nigeria, the most populous African nation, did not make the cut.
“An expansion of the electronic travel authorization, eTA, programmes makes it easier for “known travellers” from these countries to visit the United States for pleasure and business.”
He stated that the expansion will not only improve traveler convenience, but also increase travel, tourism, and economic benefits, as well as strengthen global ties with.
Due to the visa exemptions, known travelers from these countries can save a substantial amount of money.
A current visitor visa costs $100 per person and $500 per family of five or more, whereas an eTA costs only $7 per person and is valid for up to five years.
Visa-free air travel, according to the government, will make it faster, simpler, and more affordable for thousands of travellers to visit Canada for up to six months for business or pleasure.
