Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has announced major policy changes for commercial tricycle (keke) operators and motorists in the state.
Newsonspot reports that Dr Peter Mbah, has reportedly extended the state’s 9:00 p.m. movement restriction to 10:00 p.m. and directed an end to the issuance of tickets to commercial tricycle operators under the previous enforcement arrangement.
The governor announced the measures on Saturday, October 17, 2026, during a one-million-man march organised by the Tricycle Riders Union at Okpara Square, Enugu.
Under the new directive, motorists and other road users will have an additional hour to move around and conduct their legitimate businesses before the revised curfew takes effect.
The abolition of ticket fees is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of commercial tricycle operators who depend on the business for their livelihoods and provide essential transportation services to residents across the state.
Under the directive, the daily ticket and levy charges previously paid by operators are to be discontinued with immediate effect.
The development is expected to reduce the financial burden on tricycle riders, improve their earnings and support small-scale transport businesses operating within Enugu and its surrounding communities.
The announcement comes amid efforts to address concerns surrounding the movement of residents and the activities of commercial transport operators across the state.
Residents and transport operators are expected to take note of the announced changes as the state adjusts its movement restrictions and enforcement arrangements.
