Popular Nollywood-Hausa (Kannywood) actress Samha Inuwa has been arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the alleged misuse of the Nigerian currency.
Newsonspot reports that according to reports, the actress was taken into custody by operatives of the EFCC’s Kano Zonal Directorate on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Her arrest followed the circulation of a viral video on social media, which allegedly showed Inuwa using Naira notes to wipe mucus from her nose. The video sparked public outrage and drew the attention of the anti-graft agency.
Confirming the development, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that the Commission acted swiftly after the video went viral.
“EFCC operatives tracked the actress after the video surfaced online and subsequently arrested her for questioning in connection with the alleged mutilation of the Naira,” Oyewale said.
He added that Samha Inuwa is currently being detained at the Commission’s facility while investigations continue, noting that she will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The EFCC has repeatedly warned against the abuse and mutilation of the Nigerian currency, stressing that such acts are punishable under the law.
