In a major turn of events ahead of the Osun State APC governorship primary, at least seven aspirants have withdrawn from the race and pledged their support for Bola Oyebamiji as the consensus candidate.
The decision followed a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa. The gathering was convened to foster unity within the party and streamline preparations for the forthcoming primary election.

Notably, one of the aspirants, Iyiola Omisore, was absent from the meeting. He had earlier dismissed his disqualification from the primary as “a joke.”
The aspirants who stepped down in favour of Oyebamiji are:
Former Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi
Dotun Babayemi
Akin Ogunbiyi
Senator Babajide Omoworare
Kunle Adegoke
Babatunde Haketer Oralusi
Mulikat Abiola Jimoh
Their collective decision is expected to shape the dynamics of the APC governorship contest in Osun State.
