Dangote Group has announced a new strategic partnership with Honeywell International Inc. to accelerate the next phase of expansion at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
The agreement empowers the refinery to scale its processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028, marking a major leap toward Dangote’s vision of building the world’s largest petroleum refining complex.
Under the partnership, Honeywell will provide advanced catalysts, specialised equipment, and cutting-edge process technologies designed to improve crude flexibility, enhance product quality, and strengthen overall operational reliability.
Honeywell, a Fortune 100 global industrial and technology leader, has a long-standing relationship with Dangote. Its UOP division has supported the refinery since 2017 with proprietary refining systems, catalyst regeneration units, and high-performance heat exchanger technologies that have contributed to the refinery’s efficient operations.
Beyond refining, the collaboration also strengthens Dangote’s petrochemical ambitions. Using Honeywell’s Oleflex technology, the Group is scaling its polypropylene production to 2.4 million metric tons annually, supporting industries such as packaging, manufacturing, and automotive.
Dangote Group is also advancing its fertiliser expansion plans. Urea production capacity will rise from 3 million metric tons to 9 million metric tons annually, with four new trains added to the existing two trains of 1.5 million metric tons each. This growth is aimed at meeting rising demand across Africa and international markets.
The Group reaffirmed its commitment to boosting Nigeria’s energy security, expanding industrial capacity, and driving sustainable economic growth through innovation and strong global partnerships.
