The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Public Education Officer (PEO), Chief Route Commander (CRC) Florence Okpe.
Newsonspot reports that according to reports, Okpe passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, after a brief illness in her hometown in Cross River State, where she had travelled for medical leave.
Confirming the sad news, the Ogun State Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, described Okpe as a dedicated and professional officer whose contributions to the command were invaluable.
“We lost Okpe this morning (Tuesday). Her family has confirmed the sad news. She had been sick for a while and was attending the clinic here in Ogun until she was granted medical leave. Unfortunately, she passed away while in Cross River State,” Fasakin said.
The sector commander further eulogized the late officer, describing her as “an enigma – very sound, resourceful, and professional, with unparalleled dedication to duty.”
“I have sincerely lost a very dutiful officer. She was very dear to me, and it has been a sad day since we received the news of her death. The command commiserates with her family and loved ones and prays that the Almighty God grants everyone the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss,” he added.
Okpe, who served as the Public Education Officer (PEO) of the Ogun State Sector Command, was widely respected for her passion, professionalism, and commitment to promoting road safety awareness across the state and beyond.

A statement earlier issued by the command confirmed that she died on October 28, 2025, while on annual leave, describing her passing as a huge loss to the FRSC family.
