Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) has announced its unaudited financial results for the nine months ended September 30, 2025, filed with both the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) and the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
Newsonspot reports that the Group reported a profit before tax (PBT) of ₦900.8 billion, driven by strong growth in core earnings from interest income and fee income, which rose year-on-year by 25.6% and 16.8% respectively. Despite a 26% year-on-year dip in PBT – mainly due to the absence of the ₦523.2 billion fair value gains recorded in Q3 2024 – the Group maintained impressive profitability through robust operational performance.
GTCO also recorded steady growth across all asset lines, maintaining a healthy, liquid, and diversified balance sheet across its banking, payments, pension, and fund management businesses.
As of Q3 2025, the Group’s total assets stood at ₦16.7 trillion, while shareholders’ funds closed at ₦3.3 trillion. Its Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) remained strong at 36.5%, and asset quality improved significantly, with IFRS 9 Stage 3 Loans declining to 3.3% (Bank) and 4.4% (Group), compared to 3.5% and 5.2% in December 2024. The Cost of Risk (COR) also improved to 2.2%, down from 4.9% in December 2024.
The Group’s loan book (net) expanded by 16.5%, rising from ₦2.79 trillion in December 2024 to ₦3.24 trillion in September 2025. Similarly, customer deposits grew by 16%, from ₦10.40 trillion to ₦12.06 trillion during the same period.
Commenting on the results, Mr. Segun Agbaje, Group Chief Executive Officer of GTCO Plc, said:
“Our third-quarter performance underscores the consistency and resilience of our business model. We are seeing sustainable growth across both our banking and non-banking businesses, supported by disciplined execution and a strong focus on operational efficiency. Our investments in digital and payments infrastructure continue to enhance customer experience and integration across our ecosystem.”
He added that the Group remains focused on innovation, operational excellence, and superior customer outcomes, positioning it for sustained growth and another year of industry-leading results.
GTCO continues to post some of the best performance metrics in Nigeria’s financial sector, with a Pre-Tax Return on Equity (ROAE) of 39.5%, Pre-Tax Return on Assets (ROAA) of 7.6%, CAR of 36.5%, and a Cost-to-Income Ratio of 28.8%.
