Embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has returned to the Senate after completing a six-month suspension.
Newsonspot reports that her comeback coincided with the resumption of plenary on Tuesday, following a 10-week recess, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio presiding over the session.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan appeared in high spirits as she entered the chamber, exchanging warm greetings with colleagues before taking her seat. She was accompanied by a few supporters, including prominent human rights activist Aisha Yesufu, who observed proceedings from the gallery. However, reports indicate that some of her loyalists were denied entry into the chamber.
Her reinstatement marks the end of a six-month disciplinary action that sparked nationwide debate earlier in the year. The Senate had suspended her in March 2025 over alleged misconduct during her protest against the reallocation of her seat by Senate President Akpabio on February 20.
Tuesday’s plenary witnessed a strong turnout of lawmakers, signaling the full return of legislative activities after the long break.
