Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has approved the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board.
Newsonspot reports that the decision was announced in Port Harcourt on Friday evening through a Government Special Announcement issued by the State Head of Service, Mrs. Inyingi Brown.
According to the statement, the Office of the State Accountant General will temporarily oversee the functions of the dissolved board until a new one is constituted.
Members of the former board have been directed to hand over all properties and assets of the board in their possession to the Director of Administration.
“The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board. Consequently, the Office of the Accountant General of Rivers State will handle the functions of the Board until further notice,” the announcement stated.
It also confirmed that Governor Fubara will, in due course, appoint a new board to manage the affairs of pensions in the state.
The development comes shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu lifted the State of Emergency in Rivers State on September 18, effectively reinstating Governor Fubara.
