The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has issued a clarification regarding recent reports on the ongoing reorganisation within its facility, stating that the exercise is necessary to safeguard operations against repeated acts of sabotage that have threatened safety and efficiency.
Management explained that the decision was taken in the best interest of the refinery following intermittent cases of sabotage in various units, which posed dire risks to human life and overall operational stability.
The refinery reaffirmed its commitment to vigilance, stating that protecting the facility remains a top priority for Nigerians, partners across Africa, and the thousands of people whose livelihoods depend on it.
Currently, over 3,000 Nigerians are employed at the refinery, with only a small number of staff affected by the exercise. The company also noted that recruitment continues through graduate trainee programmes and experienced hire processes.
Reiterating its commitment to workers’ rights, the management emphasised that the refinery upholds internationally accepted labour principles, including the right of employees to freely decide on union membership.
“The Dangote Petroleum Refinery exists to serve Nigerians, strengthen Africa’s energy independence, and create sustainable jobs. We will continue working with employees, regulators, and stakeholders to maintain the highest standards of safety, transparency, and accountability,” the statement concluded.
