The Nigerian Senate has reopened the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, months after she was suspended from legislative duties.
Newsonspot reports that on Tuesday, the Sergeant-at-Arms, supported by security operatives, unsealed her office at the National Assembly, granting her access to the premises once again. The move comes just days before the Senate reconvenes on October 7, 2025.
According to sources, the decision followed a Senate leadership meeting where plans were discussed to formally move a motion for her return. However, part of the arrangement may require the lawmaker to offer an apology before being fully reintegrated.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March 2025 for six months after a clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the reassignment of her seat. Although her suspension officially expired in September, she faced continued resistance in resuming her legislative duties.
Earlier, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja described the suspension as excessive and unconstitutional, emphasizing that it denied her constituents proper representation. Despite this ruling, the Senate insisted she must serve the full suspension term before returning.

During the period of suspension, Akpoti-Uduaghan sought legal redress and her lawyers petitioned the National Assembly, warning of potential legal consequences if she was not recalled. The Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamorudeen Ogunlana, however, maintained that his office lacked the authority to override Senate resolutions, stressing that only the Senate could decide her fate.
With her office now reopened, attention turns to the Senate’s next session where her full reintegration will likely be addressed.
