Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has added another milestone to his illustrious career, winning two prestigious awards at the Nigerian UK Sports Awards (NUKSA) in London.
Newsonspot reports that Troost-Ekong clinched the Best Performance in a Major International Competition Award for his outstanding displays at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, where he was voted Player of the Tournament. His leadership and resilience were central to Nigeria’s run to the final, cementing his status as one of Africa’s finest defenders.
In addition, he received the Philanthropy & Humanitarian Award in recognition of the impact of the Troost-Ekong Foundation, which supports underserved Nigerian children through education, sports development, and access to vital resources. The foundation continues to expand across the country, giving hope and opportunities to young people.
Beyond football and philanthropy, Troost-Ekong is an early investor in Sokito, a sustainable football boot brand, reflecting his advocacy for innovation and sustainability in sports. He is also set to launch a new podcast, Power and Purpose, on September 25, alongside England rugby star Maro Itoje and broadcaster Leon Mann. The show will spotlight national team captains across sports, exploring leadership in athletics, business, and beyond.
