The late Member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, representing Dass Constituency, Musa Mante, was buried on today Friday, few hours after he was gruesomely murdered in his country home,
The funeral prayers for the deceased lawmaker was led by the Chief Imam of Dass Central Mosque, according to Islamic injunctions with thousands of sympathisers in attendance, which included the Emir of Dass, Usman Bilyaminu Othman, the Speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar .Y. Suleiman who led a delegation of other members of the State House of Assembly to attend the final interment among other top personalities.
The Clerk of the Assembly, Umar Gital, while in a telephone interview with the media said; “the former Lawmaker was buried at the Dass Central burial ground, amidst thousands of sympathizers in accordance to Islamic rites”.
Umar Gital further said that; “the state government delegation, was led by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mohammed Sadiq, who is also from Dass Local Government Area. After the burial of the late lawmaker, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, led other Members to the Palace of the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Biliyaminu Othman, on the condolence visit”.
While reacting to the sad news, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Suleiman, described as shocking and devastating, the gruesome murder of Musa Mante.
In a statement made available to the media, the spokesperson of the Speaker Bauchi State House of Assembly Ahmed Abdul Burra, stated that;
“The Speaker is yet to recover from the traumatic grief of the devastating news, and the merciless murder of the former Lawmaker, said Musa Mante’s death was a great loss to the entire state. He also condemned the attack and murder of the lawmaker, and vowed to work with security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of this devilish act”.
The Speaker in his statement described the deceased as Godfearing, humble and a dependable ally who served and related with people selflessly and honourably. He urged the bereaved family, colleagues and constituents to take solace and prayed to Allah to forgive his shortcomings, and give them the fortitude to bear the painful and irreparable loss.
The late Hon. Musa Mante was the Chairman House Committee on Public Petitions, and he diligently and effectively discharged his responsibility by being so dedicated and committed to finding / proffering solutions to the problems affecting people across the State.
