The Senator representing Abia North, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu on Tuesday distributed about 400 motorcycles, 150 generators, and other empowerment kits to people of the district.
Kalu, a former Abia governor while distributing the items to the beneficiaries in Umunneochi local government area of Abia State, noted that the gesture was part of efforts to fulfill his campaign promises of providing an improved living standard to the people.
He said more additional items will be distributed specifically to other constituents that didn’t benefit, adding that he has concluded plans to also rebuild Aro Ikpa road in the next few months.
According Kalu, Chief Whip of the Senate, the idea behind the empowerment was to support the mobility of the youths and give them motivations in their farming activities.
The senator said such motivations will reduce the rate of unemployment and over-dependence among youths, hoping that such motivations will encourage productivity.
